Automation Controls Engineer

Support and assist to initiate, monitor, and improve all aspects of the key metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Continuous Improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

  • Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials to evaluate existing processes to improve manufacturing efficiency in work flow, space requirements and equipment layout.

  • Lead projects to implement new manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost. Responsibilities include equipment & process selection, justification, implementation and follow up.

  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.

  • Participate in new product development projects to influence designs for ease of manufacturing and transportation.

  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.

  • Assists keeping equipment operational by providing information on required maintenance intervals and coordinating maintenance and repair services needed.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

BS or MS Degree in Electrical Engineering and industrial Control System Design (AB Hardware preferred).
Ability to both read and create Electrical Schematics.
Knowledge of Motion Control, Induction and DC Motor Control.
Knowledge of Pneumatic Actuator Control and Relay Logic.
Knowledge of Machine Guarding Systems and Power (LOTO) (OSHA).
Distribution Competent in Allen Bradley PLC Programming (Control Logix, SLC, PLC 5).
Working knowledge of Mechanical Systems as they apply to automation. Experienced with automated assembly equipment.
Proficient in project management.
Fact based problem solving skills (Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt preferred).
Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
Desirable strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Programming a plus).
AutoCAD skills preferred (Electrical Schematics)
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Desirable strong communication skills (Written and verbal).
Sense of urgency to achieve goals.
Strives for technical leadership and continuous improvement excellence.

Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning within in the group.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
